TapMango alternatives for supplement stores: an honest guide

Every real alternative to TapMango for a supplement store — Shopify loyalty apps, punch-card apps, full platforms, and vertical software — with the honest trade-offs of each, written by operators who ran a store on TapMango.

We ran a supplement store on TapMango, so let's start by being fair: it works. The kiosk checks people in, the points accrue, the campaigns send. If you're reading this, though, something is bugging you — usually the bill, the generic member experience, or texts that don't seem to land like they used to. Here's the actual landscape of alternatives, including the trade-offs vendors don't put on their pricing pages.

First: what a supplement store actually needs

Before comparing logos, write down your requirements. For most independent supplement stores it's a short list:

  • Check-in that doesn't slow the register. A counter kiosk, not an app your customers won't download. (Why kiosk beats asking at the register.)
  • Points on every purchase, automatically — including Shopify online orders and POS sales.
  • SMS that actually gets delivered. Carrier filtering is real and mostly invisible; more on that in our carrier filtering post.
  • Your brand on everything. Loyalty is supposed to make people loyal to your store.
  • A migration path. Point balances and SMS consent must carry over or your program resets to zero goodwill.

Option 1: Shopify-native loyalty apps

If you sell on Shopify, the app store is full of loyalty apps. They're cheap to start and integrate cleanly with online orders. The trade-offs: most are built for e-commerce first, so the in-store experience — the counter kiosk, the walk-in check-in — is weak or missing. SMS is usually an integration with a separate texting app, which means two bills, two consent lists, and nobody owning deliverability. Fine for online-first brands; thin for a store with real foot traffic.

Option 2: punch-card and check-in apps

The lightweight tier: digital punch cards, simple check-in apps. Genuinely cheap, genuinely simple. But points-per-dollar, tiers, segmentation, and Shopify sync usually aren't there, and text marketing — the channel that actually drives reorders — is either absent or an afterthought. You'll outgrow these the first time you want to text your lapsed preworkout buyers.

Option 3: another general-purpose platform

You can switch from TapMango to a similar full-suite platform. You'll get a comparable feature list — and, in our experience, comparable problems: platform branding on member surfaces, blast-style texting where compliance is your problem, pricing built for restaurants and salons with add-ons for everything. Switching costs are real, so make sure you're switching to something different, not just something else.

Option 4: vertical software built for your kind of store

This is the category we're in, so weigh our bias accordingly. Eco Systems CRM is loyalty + SMS + kiosk built specifically for supplement and nutrition stores, by operators who run their own stores on it. The concrete differences we designed for:

  • White-label by default — your subdomain, your kiosk, your name on every text.
  • Deliverability engineering built in — drip sending inside carrier limits, quiet hours, automatic opt-out handling, and A2P 10DLC registration filed for you.
  • Native Shopify + POS — points on every order, redemption at checkout.
  • Flat pricing — $200/mo with 5,000 texts included and extra texts 2¢ each, plus a one-time $500 setup that covers your migration. No contracts. Full details on the pricing page.

The honest trade-off: we're newer and narrower than the big platforms. If you run a frozen yogurt shop, we're the wrong tool on purpose.

How to actually decide

  1. Get your data export first. Whatever you choose, you need members, balances, and consent records out of your current platform. Our migration guide covers exactly what must carry over.
  2. Ask every vendor the filtering question: “How do you keep my campaigns from being carrier-filtered, and who files my A2P registration?” Vague answer = your problem later.
  3. Demo the kiosk, not the dashboard. Your customers touch the kiosk; you touch the dashboard. Judge the surface your regulars will see every week.
  4. Do the math on texting. Included texts, overage rates, and bundle expiry vary wildly. (What 5,000 texts actually covers.)

And if the comparison you actually want is us versus TapMango specifically, we wrote that too — the fair version: Eco Systems vs TapMango.

Questions owners actually ask us about switching

“Will my members lose their points?”

Only if the migration is done badly. Point balances export from every major platform, including TapMango, and they should be imported to the point — balances are a liability you owe your members, not vendor property. Any vendor who shrugs at this question is telling you how the rest of the relationship will go.

“Can I text my existing list from the new platform?”

Mostly yes, with one hard rule: opt-outs transfer absolutely, and undocumented consent should be treated conservatively. Consent belongs to your store, not to the software that sent the messages — but the receipts matter. The details are in the migration guide.

“How long does a switch take?”

The software part is days. The long pole is carrier approval for texting — A2P campaign review typically runs about two weeks, so file it on day one and let the wait overlap your setup. Points, kiosk, and Shopify sync don't need to wait for carriers.

“What does switching cost?”

With most platforms: setup fees plus your staff's time doing the import. With us: a flat one-time $500 that covers the migration work, your customized kiosk and portal, and Twilio setup with A2P verification — then $200/month. No surprise labor bill, because a switch we half-do is a customer we half-keep.

“What if the new platform doesn't work out?”

This is the real risk of any switch, and the honest mitigations are contractual, not technical: no long-term contract, and a guaranteed data export on exit. Ask for both in writing from anyone you evaluate. We offer both; so should everybody.
